Botox

What Is Botox?

Botox is the only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox works by temporarily blocking nerve signals which direct facial muscles to contract during facial expressions. When muscles are prevented from contracting, the lines and folds in the skin’s surface are smoothed, and additional expression lines are prevented from forming.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

The most commonly treated areas include: glabella (the area between the brows), forehead, and crow’s feet, nose (bunny lines), and the neck.

When Will I Notice The Results?

Within days it is possible to observe results from Botox, including a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to 4-6 months.

Who Can Benefit From Botox?

Botox is a popular choice for all ages, from early 20’s on. Results are excellent in all age groups. With its ability to soften existing lines, and prevent new lines from forming, it’s easy to see why Botox is the most popular cosmetic treatment on the market.

Forever Young BBL

What Is Forever Young BBL?

Forever Young BBL is a cutting edge treatment that uniquely delivers light therapy. Forever Young BBL targets the signs of aging, sun damage, and vascular irregularities; providing a more refreshed, rejuvenated and youthful appearance.

Tell Me About The Stanford Study:

A groundbreaking study on BroadBand Light (BBL) from Stanford University revealed Forever Young BBL can restore gene expression in aged human skin to resemble much younger skin. Scientific evidence demonstrates regular Forever Young BBL treatments (3-4 per year) functionally rejuvenate skin and delay skin aging. Over time, the skin looks much younger, on average 10 years younger.

How Does Forever Young BBL Work?

Forever Young BBL utilizes powerful light therapy to bring about positive change in your skin. The BBL system allows providers to customize treatments for clients by using a variety of filters (tuned to unique wavelengths of light) in order to target specific skin concerns. Once the proper filter has been selected, the BBL crystal hand piece is placed upon the skin and a quick pulse of energy is delivered.

BBL energy gently heats the upper layers of skin, stimulating new collagen production. This collagen production gives skin a firmer, smoother appearance.

In addition to collagen stimulation, other skin concerns such as vascular irregularities and pigmentation irregularities are targeted as well. Targeting these irregularities dramatically improves the skin’s tone.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

The treatment can be used on all body areas. Commonly treated areas include: face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

Is There Downtime With Forever Young BBL?

This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases you can return to work and resume most of your activities immediately.

Please keep in mind however some planning is recommended in regards to your social calendar, reason being; treated areas often look worse prior to looking better.

When pigmentation irregularities are targeted, the melanin is broken up and will initially appear darker. These damaged pigmented cells will rise to the surface of the skin and then flake off within 1-2 weeks roughly.

The damaged pigmented cells resemble coffee grounds on the skin. They can be covered with makeup if need be.

Mountain Surgical Arts recommends planning treatments either 2 weeks prior to social functions or after they have been attended.

Chemical Peels

What Are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are facial treatments in which various peeling agents (acids, enzymes, etc.) are applied to the skin, in order to improve its tone and texture, address acne concerns, and even soften fine lines and wrinkles.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

Chemical peels work by dissolving desmosomes, the skin’s “cellular glue”. This action allows dead, dull skin cells to be shed at a faster rate than normal. During the peeling process, healthy new skin cells migrate to the skin’s surface; replacing lackluster cells and improving skin’s appearance in the process.

Which Peel Is Right For Me?

Mountain Surgical Arts carries a bevy of peels. Your treatment provider will determine which peel is best suited for you based on your individual skincare goals, current skin health, downtime allowance etc. Customizing your treatment ultimately results in improved client experience.

How Do Chemical Peels Stack Up To Laser Treatments?

Chemical peels (while still effective) are considered an older method of skin rejuvenation. They do not offer the precision and control of laser and light based procedures. These factors do however make them more affordable as technology is always a factor which drives pricing.

SkinPen Microneedling

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment which utilizes a hand-held device equipped with tiny needles to uniformly penetrate the skin, creating a controlled wound; short lived in nature.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling’s mechanism of action is usually a repetitive vertical stamping of the skin. This action penetrates the skin; intentionally wounding it with minimal epidermal damage, and in a manner which creates temporary inflammation instead of lasting trauma. When skin is injured and the inflammatory process has begun, a cascade of beneficial growth factors are released at the treatment site. These growth factors aid in the natural production of collagen fibers to improve the skin’s health and appearance. Microneedling also helps to improve the integrity of the current network of fibers, remodeling damaged collagen to become more uniform. This is important as doing so directly improves the appearance of scars.

Lasers Or Microneedling?

Microneedling offers an alternative to fractionated laser skin resurfacing such as the ProFractional treatment. Microneedling treatments are accompanied by shorter recovery periods, as they leave the epidermis intact and don’t produce heat. Microneedling treatments may require more treatments than laser to obtain similar results.

Microneedling also greatly increases the absorption rate of skin care products via the micro channels created. Any topicals used after the treatment will penetrate deep into the dermis affecting positive change. This accelerates the healing process and allows you to get the most benefit from your treatment.

Fractora

What Is Fractora?

Fractora is a radiofrequency (RF) energy assisted version of microneedling; a skin rejuvenation treatment which utilizes a hand-held device equipped with tiny needles to uniformly penetrate the skin, creating a controlled wound; short-lived in nature.

Fractora is a new crowd favorite as the added heat energy generated by RF provides additional skin lifting and tightening effects, resulting in more dramatic improvement than standard microneedling treatments.

How Does Fractora Work?

Fractora’s mechanism of action is a repetitive vertical stamping of the skin.

During your treatment, RF energy is also being delivered deep into your skin via Fractora’s needles. This added heat energy provides a superior lifting and tightening effect.

Fractora also helps to improve the integrity of the current network of fibers, remodeling damaged collagen to become more uniform. This is important as doing so directly improves the appearance of scars.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Although great results can be obtained from one treatment, a series of three is recommended to achieve the maximum effect.

What Does Fractora Treat?

Fractora by InMode is very versatile and addresses wrinkles, skin laxity, active acne, scarring, uneven skin complexion, and enlarged pores.

What’s more, InMode Fractora permanently destroying the majority of sweat glands found in the armpit area to effectively treat excessive sweating at its roots. Mountain Surgical Arts & Aesthetics’ hyperhydrosis treatment reduces both excess sweat and odor.

Do I Need Sedation?

Contoura

What Is Contoura?

Contoura is a non-invasive body contouring platform, which utilizes radiofrequency energy, gentle vacuum suction, and an electronic pulse to address concerns regarding body shape. The platform includes a variety of handpieces which allow providers to easily customize treatments to fit client’s needs as well as their own unique body shape.

What Does Contoura Treat?

Contoura treatments aid in reshaping the body; reducing fat and cellulite, while providing the additional benefit of skin tightening/contraction.

Contoura is the ONLY non-invasive body contouring device proven in peer reviewed and published human studies to both permanently kill adipose tissue (fat) and contract the skin.

How Does Contoura Work?

Contoura works through a tri pronged approach:

  1. Contoura delivers radio frequency heat (real-time monitored for comfort) to targeted fat in order to achieve a heating range between 40-43 degrees (temperatures which melt fat).

  2. Contoura utilizes a gentle vacuum suction to gather skin in the handpiece uniformly. This gentle suction also provides negative pressure to the skin’s fibrous network; aiding in the improvement of cellulite dimpling.

  3. Contoura delivers an electronic pulse to adipose cells (fat), bursting them and in turn permanently destroying them.

After treatments are over, the destroyed fat cells are then flushed through the lymphatic system. As the lymphatic system takes time to flush this cellular waste, results from each treatment are seen on average 3 months post each treatment.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

As every body is unique, treatment plans will vary from one individual to the next. On average body contouring treatments are done in a series of 6-8. Treatments are performed one to two weeks apart.

The Handpiece Trio:

Contoura includes three handpieces to allow for complete customization of treatments: Body FX, Mini FX, and Plus.

BodyFX addresses problematic fatty tissue in larger body areas such as the: abdomen, back (flanks), thighs, and buttocks.

MiniFX addresses problematic fatty tissue in smaller areas such as the: neck, arms, and knees.

Plus addresses areas of the body where a tightening effect is desired, such as the: abdomen, knees, neck, and crux of the elbows.

ClearV Vascular Laser

What Is ClearScan?

ClearScan is an effective and safe laser treatment which helps diminish or eliminate vascular irregularities and small, unsightly veins.

How Does ClearScan Work?

ClearScan utilizes a laser, tuned to a wavelength of light which has a strong affinity for oxyhemoglobin (blood); the 1064 nanometer wavelength. This wavelength of light is unmatched in its efficacy in targeting and destroying vascular irregularities.

When the laser targets the vessel in question, the vessel absorbs the energy, is heated up, and is destroyed. The blood present will be blanched and over time will be reabsorbed by the body, leaving no trace of the vessel.

A powerful cooling treatment tip keeps the surrounding tissue comfortable and safe during treatments.

What Does ClearScan Treat?

ClearScan is quite versatile and can treat the following: spider veins, telangiectasia, small leg veins, benign vascular lesions, port wine stains, hemangiomas, rosacea and venous lake.

SkinTyte

What Is SkinTyte?

SkinTyte is a unique infrared light based therapy which helps to improve the firmness of your skin.

How Does SkinTyte Work?

SkinTyte utilizes infrared light to gently heat the skin. This heating causes current collagen fibers to contract; strengthening and tightening them. The strengthening and tightening of collagen fibers directly increases the firmness of your skin. SkinTyte also helps to stimulate new collagen as well.

Is There Any Downtime?

Since SkinTyte is a non-invasive procedure, you can return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure.

What Is Votiva Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Votiva is a vaginal rejuvenation treatment which utilizes radiofrequency energy to improve the appearance and sexual function of the vagina, as well as diminishing the embarrassing effects of stress urinary incontinence.

What Does Votiva Treat?

Votiva treats vaginal tissue where laxity is a concern. Votiva also treats stress urinary incontinence of the bladder.

How Does Votiva Work?

Votiva treatments use radiofrequency heat energy to stimulate new collagen and also remodel the current collagen network. When treated, the collagen contracts and significant tightening effects are obtained.

A unique handpiece delivers the radiofrequency heat energy internally and/or externally. The handpiece is equipped with thermometers which monitor the skin temperature in real time for increased comfort and safety.

Once the desired temperature range is reached the treatment time begins. The handpiece is moved throughout the area creating uniform heating for the duration of the treatment. Votiva treatments are incredibly quick at ten minutes per treatment.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Although many individuals may notice results from one treatment, three treatments are recommended to achieve the maximum effect. Treatments are spaced one month apart.

Laser Hair Removal

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is an FDA-approved process of permanently reducing or eliminating unwanted hair on almost any part of the body.

Understanding Laser Hair Removal:

Hair grows in cycles, and many factors influence its growth. Age, ethnicity, medications, hormone levels, and even body site all play a part.

How much hair you have depends on how many hairs are in their active growth cycle and how long that cycle lasts. Hair revolves through three phases of growth: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen.

Anagen is the active growing phase where the hair bulb is intact. Hair grows in both directions, upward and downward. Early anagen is when the bulb is closest to the surface of the skin, and contains an abundance of melanin (pigment) allowing for the most effective treatment.

Catagen is a brief intermediate phase between anagen and telogen. It is the regression phase when the lower part of the hair stops growing but is not shed, and the body absorbs the lower third of the follicle.

Telogen is the resting phase. The hair bulb is no longer present, and is now a clubbed hair, which will fall out, or be pushed out of the follicle by a new anagen growing hair.

Laser hair removal is only effective on hairs that are in their anagen phase. Hairs that continue to grow after a treatment may have been in their telogen phase (not growing), or the treatment may not have targeted it properly (handpiece spacing, treatment energy.)

Our highly trained laser technicians’ goal is to select the safest laser energy setting without causing injury, scarring, pigmentation changes or unbearable discomfort to the individual.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Various individual factors can affect how many treatments you may need, such as: hair color and type, follicle density, and genetics. On average, 6-8 treatments of laser hair removal are needed to obtain the best results.

Please keep in mind that some additional factors can cause new hair growth which cannot be accounted for during the time of your treatment series. These can include: hormonal shifts due to pregnancy, P.C.O.S. (polycystic ovary syndrome) and some medications.

Sclerotherapy

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a popular method of eliminating spider veins, utilizing an injectable sclerosing agent.

How Does Sclerotherapy Work?

A sclerosing agent is injected into the treatment site via a tiny needle. This injection causes irritation or sclerosis of the vessel lining, which leads to its closure. Much like the resolution of a bruise, this process causes a gradual fading of the treated vessel over a period of several weeks or so.

How Many Treatments Are Necessary?

The number of treatments needed to clear or improve one’s condition differs from patient to patient. Your treatment provider will determine how many treatments are necessary during your consultation.

Is There Any Downtime?

Normal daily activities can usually be resumed immediately after the procedure.

Is Sclerotherapy Just For Cosmetic Purposes?

Sclerotherapy treatment is primarily a cosmetic procedure. However, some patients experience relief of symptoms associated with varicose and spider veins such as: cramps, swelling, aching or pain in the affected limbs.

EVLA

What Is EVLA?

Endo-venous laser ablation (EVLA) is a minimally-invasive procedure for treating varicose veins that delivers laser energy directly inside the vein.

How Does EVLA Work?

During EVLA laser energy is delivered through a tiny optical fiber to a segment of damaged vein. This energy heats up the inside vein wall, in turn causing the vein to shrink, collapse and seal shut.

Will I Need Sedation For EVLA?

Sedation is not necessary for EVLA procedure. Tumescent local anesthesia is used to provide a painless experience during the laser procedure. Because tumescent local anesthesia is used, the EVLA procedure can be performed in a comfortable, office-based setting.

Are Any Medications Needed?

Some medications will be prescribed. These may include an antibiotic, sedative, and light pain management.

As patients are under the influence of a sedative, a ride home must be arranged for the day the procedure will take place.

What Is The Downtime Like?

Patients usually are able to resume normal daily activities within a few days. Special caution may be recommended for more strenuous activities.

To support the health of your veins and assist in recovery of your procedure, compression stockings are imperative and can be ordered prior to your procedure.

Micro-Phlebectomy

What Is Micro Phlebectomy?

Micro Phlebectomy is an outpatient procedure which surgically removes small to medium sized abnormal veins. Micro Phlebectomy is an alternative to multiple sclerotherapy treatments, or the more invasive vein stripping procedure.

How Does Micro Phlebectomy Work?

During the Micro Phlebectomy procedure, micro incisions are made in the treatment area. The problematic veins in this area are gathered using a small hook instrument. The collected veins are then excised and removed through the micro incision.

Will I Need Sedation For Micro Phlebectomy?

No sedation is necessary with this procedure. Micro Phlebectomy is performed under topical anesthetic. We are able to perform this procedure with very little discomfort.

Will There Be Downtime?

With Micro Phlebectomy there is very little downtime. Patients usually recover over the course of a weekend. Regular daily activities may be resumed immediately. Patients should avoid more strenuous activities such as exercising until it is recommended by the doctor.
